Spotlight On | Hip Hop Songs With Wedding Appropriate Lyrics

If you don’t know this about me already, I counsel teenage girls for my day job. I work at a group home for girls 13-17 with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Often, this means shuttling them from one place to another in a van. Or sometimes, we have down time at the house and the girls put music on while we make dinner. How does this relate to today’s post? Here’s how: I listen to hip hop music All. Day. Long. I have never been a big fan of hip hop music, to be honest. I find it to be often profane, degrading toward women a good amount of the time, and on occasion, downright annoying. (I am clearly not the kind of person who can just enjoy a good beat without noticing the lyrics.) My tolerance for hip hop has increased since I’ve been working with teens for the last 5 years, and on occasion, I even enjoy it. There are certain songs that seem to cause my body to spontaneously burst into dance moves without my permission. (Which the girls that I work with make fun of me about to no end – but I don’t mind.)

Ok, let’s get to the point. I wanted to share a few of my favorite hip hop songs that I think are great for weddings.
