Do you have an idea of what kind of music you want for your wedding, but don’t know where to go from there? Or do you not even know where to begin when it comes to music? I’d love to help! Just send me an e-mail with some of the details of your wedding (style, guests, venue, etc.) and your music taste, and I’ll do my best to offer suggestions and/or create a playlist for you! I can’t make any guarantees, but I can give you somewhere to start!
Here is what Stephanie, a sweet (and stunning!) bride who asked for my help had to say:
“Colleen was such a gift when planning the music for my reception. I had a friend be my DJ for the wedding, and while he is awesome when it comes to music, I didn’t know how to convey exactly what I had in mind music wise to him. I didn’t want to just give him an era of music – I wanted to actually be able to give him a playlist as the outline of what I wanted my reception music to sound like. That didn’t mean he was confined to that exact playlist, but it gave him an idea of actual songs I had in mind. Music really sets the tone of a wedding reception. Although I wanted people to dance at my wedding, I didn’t want any music with bad content because of the children and our family that would be present. I just happened to find Colleen’s blog and saw that she would come up with a playlist for you – all you had to do was ask! If you’re a bride, why wouldn’t you come to her for help!? I got a playlist with probably 50+ songs! Just one less thing I had to do, which gave me time to plan other parts of my wedding. Colleen did such an excellent job and is so sweet – definitely come to her for your wedding song help!”

Isn’t she gorgeous?? The stunning photos from her and Andrew’s day were shot by Katelyn James Photography, and you can see the rest of their amazing day on Katelyn’s blog here.
In case you want to get an idea of what the process looks like, here is a snippet from Stephanie’s original email:
“I am getting married this July, and the music for the reception has been very hard to come up with. The theme of my wedding is “vintage/whimsical”. I would like the dinner (which is a sit down meal) to more of the older upbeat love songs – think Frank Sinatra era. I am also wondering what to do for the dancing music. I definitely want music that will keep people dancing all night – but nothing that needs much editing out because a lot of people that will be there are older. Also if you have any ideas for the different parts of the ceremony and reception, that would be awesome.”

What a great selection of songs. I never thought of someone helping the bride out with the music – it makes sense, it’s one less thing for her to worry about.
Great idea! Can use all the help we can get! Lol
