I’m famous!!!!
I loved them all. BUT I loved Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop best….but Kevin says I can’t cuz that’s what Kate walked down to. Maybe I will have the bridesmaids walk down to that one and then have Jimmy switch to Only You by Joshua Radin…cuz I loved that one too.
You are so wonderful Colleen!
I first discovered Landon Pigg back in about 2006 or so and “Coffee Shop” was the song that was how I discovered him! Just lovely!
Liesl
@Kelsey: Yeah I kind of forgot about Kate when I was making the list. (I made one for her too back in the day, ha ha.) I’m glad you liked them.
@Liesl: I know, I love him! Especially that song.
I found this as I was Stumbling. Great list. Thought I’d suggest one more:
Book of Love by Magnetic Fields (cover of Peter Gabriel)
Dream by Priscilla Ahn is another good one! Love these ones though.
My husband and I walked in to one of our songs (cause we have many) “The Sun and the Moon” By Mae.
I planned it out perfectly for the bridal party and moms/grandmothers.
The door was closed when the last person walked down the aisle and as soon as they reached the altar the song played our favorite lyrics, “So when you say forever can’t you see, you’ve already captured me.”
The doors opened and I walked down to my adorable husband.
It was seriously perfect and the whole audience disappeared. All I could see was him.
Another great song is Marry Me by Train!!! Love that song!
This is such a great post! There are so many songs out there that begin playing and make you feel as if a bride and groom are about to start dancing…they’ve become outplayed and unoriginal. But this gives so many couples new ideas and promotes the not-so-well-known artists…all of which i LOVE
this post rocks!
I had a very non traditional wedding, and we snowboarded down the aisle to M.J. The Way You Make Me Feel. It was awesome! Just another one for your list. Another little advise to brides to be, give your dad the honor of picking the father daughter dance. It may be something they have already picked out and dreamed of, or in my fathers case, he didn’t find any that were just right, so he wrote a song, lyrics, music and all. It is something I will never forget!
Love this list!
This is a wonderful list! I am working on a playlist for my best friend’s wedding, and I had several of these songs in my itunes, but I hadn’t thought to put them on her playlist! Thanks for featuring amazing artists like Joshua Radin and Iron and Wine. I wanted to add to the list if I may… Schuyler Fisk is amazing (I saw her in concert with Joshua Radin, and they blew me away!) I would recommend her song: The Good Stuff.
Hi Colleen,
I am so impressed with these choices! These songs can fit so well with particular themes. We had “Northern Sky – Nick Drake” as a choice for our Nature Infused theme but the couple didn’t feel comfortable with a male singer.
It is so interesting to me that this playlists contains so many male singers because most of our couples automatically picture a woman’s voice.
Here are pictures of the “Nature Infused” themed wedding, I think Nick Drake would have fit well but the couple ended up choosing “Fields of Gold” by Eva Cassidy which was a stunning choice as well: http://www.baldassarreevents.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28&Itemid=2&lang=en
What songs can you think of for outdoor weddings? Also, I would love to see a vintage playlist.
I decided not to have a traditional wedding song too. We chose a song from our favourite band which we used to dance too at home. The lyrics were meaningful to us and it helped make our wedding more unique. Years later it always makes us think of our wedding day when we play it .
Some absolute classics there, although not seeing any Phil Collins
My husband and I played “Everyday” at our wedding… everyone loved that we did something out of the ordinary!
I walked down the aisle to Tom Petty’s “Here Comes my Girl!” it was perfect. As for the list Garth Brook’s version of “To Make You Feel My Love,” is way better than the Adele version, in my opinion.
Please add,to the list, such a beautiful song called, Tonight I Want To Celebrate With You, by My Morning Jacket.
I walked down the aisle to “Songbird” (I think Fleetwood Mac did it originally, but I had the Eva Cassidy version) <3
Me and My husband and I played everyday at our wedding… everyone loved that we did something out of the ordinary!
I’m getting married next month and this list is a godsend! We want the wedding to be slightly quirky without straying too far from the traditional, and these suggestions are amazing. Thank you.
I loved the Somewhere Over the Rainbow suggestion. It’s my favorite song and now I might just walk down the aisle to it. Though I prefer the Matthew Morrison and Gwyneth Paltrow version. One suggestion. My friend walked down the aisle to Rhythm of Love by Plain White Ts. It was super cute.
