Hi, I’m Colleen! I live in Salinas, California and for my day job I am a professional counselor at a group home for teenage girls with mental health and substance abuse disorders. It is very rewarding, but not (by any means) easy. So, in my off hours, I disappear into a world of beauty, true love, and happily-ever-afters through blogging.
I am, believe it or not, a single girl writing a wedding blog. Here’s a little background on how that came to pass: I started a personal blog in 2008 as a way to keep in touch with friends and family in California while I was living in Portland. In early 2009 I began writing a version of Soundtrack To I Do as a source of musical help for my friends who were getting married at the time. I like to call myself a “professional bridesmaid,” as by the end of this year I will have been in 8 weddings. I’ve always been passionate about music, and as a result my friends were asking for musical ideas and inspiration for their weddings. Thus, the idea began. At the time though, I knew very little about blogging, and I continue to discover that there is always more to learn. In March 2011, I relaunched Soundtrack To I Do, in hopes that it would reach a larger audience than simply my circle of friends. I hope you find some inspiration here.

Hey Colleen, I came across your blod as I am trying to help my friend win a contest but I loved where you wrote “in my off hours, I disappear into a world of beauty, true love, and happily-ever-afters through blogging” that is so me. I use my blog as away of escapism.
I love your back story too and it’s rewarding to do the counseling but also amazing to work on this blog! And it’s a great and very helpful blog. I will be sure to pass it on to friends when they are planning their wedding:-)
Hi! I also work in mental health with homeless adults and since I got engaged 6 months ago I’m obsessed with wedding blogs and wish I could start my own! yours has such a great idea and now I almost wish we had just done our own ipod soundtrack instead of getting a DJ! but I got some great ideas from your site so I know we’ll have a great time! thanks for all the inspiration:)
love this site! what a great resource. will be happy to share this with others!
I found your blog via wedding gawker and I love what you do! There are so many moments in life that need an inspiring soundtrack to emphasize the feeling. I’ve gone through quite a few soundtracks myself. Keep doing what you do! You’re appreciated all the way from FL.
