Your Soundtrack | Aryel (Rustic Barn Wedding + Acoustic/Indie/Pop Playlist)

Your Soundtrack = My response to brides asking for music help. If you would like help with music for your wedding day, contact me! I’d love to do what I can.

Today’s soundtrack is for Aryel. Here’s what Aryel had to say: “ Hi! I found this site on pinterest and it is like finding light in the darkness! I am having such a tough time working out my wedding playlist. We are pretty young and although we are strapped for cash but after we get married we are leaving to Romania to do outreach with street kids so I really want this night to be special! The most difficult thing about the wedding is that there are three pretty distinct groups coming, my fiances Josh’s family who are all Romanian and really hard to please, my family who can get pretty crazy, and josh and my invite list that consists of our close friends (all pretty fun 20 somethings) and our church family (we are devoted Christians). So you can probably see the trouble I am having! I need a wedding with fun, clean songs that won’t offend but we can dance to or enjoy. We love acoustic and alternative songs like The Avvette Brothers, Blitzen Trapper, The Head and the Heart, but also we like to have a good time and dance around to popular songs. We are getting married outside a renovated barn with the reception inside. Lots of string lights, wood, gold and blush colors. I would love if you could help us out!”

Real Wedding | Richard & Lindsay

I’m soooo excited to share this wedding with you guys today. Partly because I haven’t featured a real wedding in quite awhile (sorry about that!) and also because this wedding is not only gorgeous, but music themed!! Yessss!!! These amazing images were shot by Kelli of Nine Photography.

Here’s what Kelli had to say about the wedding:

Lindsay & Richard are totally into great music, and they have the most fun family you’d ever want to meet.  So music and full on good times were the inspiration for their wedding day.

Every table was named for a different concert they had gone to over the years with a framed ticket stub from each one…… Foo Fighters, Sufjan Stevens, SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY  ……  yeah, they have awesome taste in music, I’d say.

Their families were SO MUCH FUN!  Richard’s bro Phil is a dancing machine and such fun that you just want to rent him out for parties and stuff.  (see his sweet dancing moves below) And if the night couldn’t get anymore awesome, Richard decides to break out into a karaoke version of  ”Shoop”….  Oh no you di’ent.  Oh yes, yes he did.

Monday Music… A Little Late

This week has been a wee bit crazy, but we are getting around to Monday music now – better late than never, right!;)

Seriously awesome idea – ceremony music via pink boom box (John Cusack style) found on Green Wedding Shoes (photo by Our Labor Of Love)

Adorable couple shoot on Hi-Fi Weddings (Photo by Philippa James Photography)

Love everything about this – a group of girls celebrating their nature with tea, nature, music, and matching outfits! Plus a photographer of course – Little Alexa via Frosted Petticoat

Ring shot + Vinyl by Sarah Kathleen Photography via Hi-Fi Weddings

Groomsmen jamming out in a VW van – gotta love that! – on Ruffled (photo by Rowan Jane Photography)

Sweet vintage anniversary shoot on Hi-Fi Weddings (Photo by Patrick Hadley)

And for a little silliness (but you never know, it could prove to be inspiring!) – 50 first dance songs and the celebrities that used them, via Bride Finds

And while we’re on the topic, check out this very funny (if a little bit mean) article on what a couple’s first dance song says about them on Divine Caroline. Warning: don’t read it if you’re easily offended. Your first dance song could be in the list!

Ciiku - June 28, 2012 - 11:21 am

Surprisingly, At Last is not common here.

However, K-CI and Jojo’s “All my life” is for reasons that I DO NOT understand!

Monday Moments | Sweet Victory

Happy Monday everyone! Not much needs to be said about this photo – the bride’s expression and body language say it all. And I love it.:)

I got to be the second shooter at Tera and Joe’s wedding on Saturday! It was an incredibly beautiful day and they are so sweet, and it was such an honor to be a part of it. Can’t wait to share the photos with you when Jess is done editing them!

P.S. I may have just become an aspiring wedding photographer. We shall see.;)

First Dance Fridays | Recent Hits

Happy Friday everyone! And happy summer!! For today’s edition of first dance Fridays, I thought I would pull from some recent songs that people have loved. As usual, the links will take you to the video on You Tube in case you want to give it a listen.

Heidi Huber Photography via Style Me Pretty

1) Marry Me – Train

This has been extremely popular since it came out for engagement and wedding videos, proposals, and weddings alike. So if you are not the trendy type and want every aspect of your wedding to be extremely unique, this may not be the song for you. BUT if that doesn’t bother you, this song is very sweet and romantic and a fantastic choice.

Forever can never be long enough for me
To feel like I’ve had long enough with you
Forget the world now we won’t let them see
But there’s one thing left to do

Now that the weight has lifted
Love has surely shifted my way
Marry Me
Today and every day
Marry Me
If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe
Say you will

2) A Thousand Years – Christina Perry

This song was on the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtrack, so if that bothers you, go ahead and move on to the next. But it’s a super pretty tune, with it’s minor key and it’s acoustic feel, and background strings. I don’t know about you, but it makes me want to dance with someone. The lyrics are pretty stinkin’ romantic too.

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

3) Rhythm Of Love – Plain White T’s

This song is a little more upbeat, a little more cheerful, and still lovely and sweet. It’s a cute one guys. I’m a fan.

We may only have tonight
But till the morning sun, you’re mine
All mine
Play the music low
And sway to the rhythm of love

When the moon is low
We can dance in slow motion
And all your tears will subside
All your tears will dry

4) Flightless Bird, American Mouth – Iron & Wine

Sorry that two on the list are from the Breaking Dawn. They used great music, what can I say? Iron & Wine is one of my favorite bands. This song in particular isn’t actually their most romantic lyrically, because the lyrics are actually a little strange and confusing. But the tune is so haunting and lovely. (If you’re hung up on the lyrics, check out Love & Some Verses.)

Then when the cops closed the fair
I cut my long baby hair
Stole me a dog-eared map
And called for you everywhere

Have I found you?
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping
Or lost you?
American mouth
Big pill looming

5) You Are The Best Thing – Ray LaMontagne

This one is a bit more upbeat again, it’s a happy song for sure. The lyrics are very wedding appropriate and sweet. It’s groovy.

Baby
We’ve come a long way
And baby
You know i hope and i pray
That you believe me
When i say this love will never fade away

Oh, because
You are the best thing
You are the best thing
You are the best thing
Ever happened to me

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

I did a wedding highlight to Ray LaMontagne “You Are the Best Thing” and I never get tired of that song. Also “Marry Me”….stunning. I don’t think any of these songs would disappoint. You have such good taste :)

Sarah {A Paper Proposal} - June 24, 2012 - 11:35 pm

Awesome choices! “Marry Me” and “Rhythm of Love” are definitely my favorites :)
