Guest Post | A Non-Cheesy Playlist

If you’ve been around here much, you are getting used to the name Jessica Velarde. She is the highly talented wedding photographer who did the styled shoot that you can see glimpses of all over my blog, and she is also responsible for my fantastic blog design. She also shared her super sweet proposal story with us. And, if you hadn’t figured this out already, she’s one of my closest friends. She’s back with us today, sharing her wedding playlist with us! And from experience as a guest at her wedding, the music rocked. I danced my socks off. (Well I wasn’t wearing socks, but you know what I mean.) So without further ado, here’s Jess:
I am big fan of fun receptions. Who isn’t? Everyone loves to have fun. And music is one of the best things you can use to ensure just that. However, I’m personally not too keen on those “classic” wedding reception songs (I mean really… YMCA?). And not only that, but it’s important to both my fiance and I to have pretty clean lyrics in the songs we play. It’s a rather family focused event for us. I think that good music you really like should be played at receptions. We wanted a mix of modern dance songs, off-beat, indie picks, and quality, non-cheesy classics that a lot of people would know (Thank you Michael Jackson). So I scoured itunes, wedding blogs, and googled my way to creating our dance party playlist. It’s full of clean, dance-able, wonderful songs and I am proud of it. So whether you are going DIY-DJ or not, I hope this helps to get the party started at your reception :)

As a friend of both Jessica and Rene, their wedding was absolutely amazing. Every single detail was so well planned and knowing Jess, you could see her personal touch everywhere. The music was superb. Not the typical songs you here at every reception, but music we all know and love and some we hadn’t heard in years. When the fast tempo songs played, everyone was on their feet (including me even though I can’t dance). When the slower ones came one, there was so much emotion in the air you could feel it. My husband and I danced every song. I cried I don’t know how many times (happy tears). Just looking at both Jessica and Rene, knowing what a true love they share was just amazing. I feel honored I was able to share this day with them.
