Monday Moments | Creative First Look

I go back and forth on the first look idea. I think it’s such a sweet and special moment for the bride and groom to get to spend their first moments together on their wedding day alone. Since I am personally a woman of faith, I also think it would be such a sacred moment to pray alone with my groom before the ceremony starts. BUT I also think the idea of him seeing me for the first time as I walk down the aisle toward him on my father’s arm, is just too sweet a tradition to let go of. So, I decided the first look was not a possibility for me. Until I saw this awesome post on Creative First Looks on A Paper Proposal, and this image blew my resignation right out of the water.

I have no idea if this couple is praying, but when I saw it, that’s what I thought of. This is the perfect solution to my dilemma – I would get to have a private moment and prayer with my groom before the ceremony, but he wouldn’t see me because he’d be blindfolded! So we would still have the magical moment as I came down the aisle. Problem solved.

What do you think about the “first look” trend? Do you love it or do you prefer the tradition that the groom doesn’t see the bride until she comes down the aisle?

My FI and I are doing a first look for several reasons. 1. he’s more romantical/mushy with me when it’s just the two of us 2. he doesn’t do well with lots of attention on him 3. time constraints for photos at 2 hour rental for the ceremony
From the moment I learned about first looks – I knew it was the right thing to do for us. I know that I’ll get a more raw emotion and true reaction from my FI if it’s just us and the cameras capturing that moment instead of 200 eyeballs looking at him as I begin walking down the aisle. Plus it’ll help me and my nerves by being able to see, hug, kiss him in an intimate setting

This is for sure something I have never seen before but I love how personal it is :) and clever! The First Look debate is a tricky one!

personally, i am not a fan of the first look – i always loved the look on a groom’s face when the ceremony began and the bride made her way into the ceremony … however, after reading more about it – and hearing people’s reasoning, i can def get behind the first look too – whatever works for the couple!

This is an interesting idea because its all about the groom seeing the bride and therefore your idea conquers that. I could see this as something that could catch on, because the idea of blindfolding the groom would be quite funny and would maybe break some of the pre ceremony jitters. Fab idea
