Saturday Song | Home (+ Happy Father’s Day!)

I’m headed out of town today!! Yay for vacation time. It is desperately needed for this girl. But I will leave you with a Saturday song, of course. This is just a generally great song that I love, and in honor of father’s day, I have a special version. Here’s the real version first.

Home, by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

I’m really sad that technology was not what it is today when I was a child. Because if it was, I would undoubtedly have super cute videos like the one you are about to watch. My awesome dad often sang me to sleep with his guitar. And sometimes, I chimed in. We even had this little echo song that we would do that I wish I had a video of. It went like this. Dad: Well I’m a long tall Texan, I’ve got a big white horse. Little Me: He rides from Texas with his big white horse! (With an exaggerated accent.) I won’t bore you with all the lyrics, but it was pretty stinkin’ cute if I do say so myself. Although I did not have anything close to the talent that this little girl has. Check it.

Cutest thing ever, right? Right. My favorite part is when she says, “Someday I’m gonna whistle?” Be still my heart.

So… happy father’s day (tomorrow) to the best dad in the world – mine! And all the other awesome dads out there! And while I’m on the topic of dads, check out some great father/daughter dance songs here and here.

And in case you weren’t around, here’s what we had on the blog this week:

Groovy dance tunes from the 1970’s
Ridiculously gorgeous Badgely Mischkas on Tuesday Shoesday
Fantastic guest post from a groom (!) on how he and his bride chose their first dance song
Things I Love Episode 1: The Woods
And my favorite real wedding ever. In Yosemite. Amazingly gorgeous.

Look forward to my fantastic guest posters next week! I’ll miss you!

Thanks for the wonderful posting from the luckiest dad in the world (yours). Just for the record, that little girl is cute & a good singer, but she doesn’t hold a candle to you in either one.
